A Swiss Diplomat on the Revolution

Words from a Swiss diplomat of the time regarding the Hungarian Revolution:

“There is not a single person worthy of the name ‘Swiss’ who did not feel that a crime against humanity had been committed—one that shattered, for a long time to come, all confidence in a better future for mankind and nations.

This sentiment was accompanied by admiration and respect for the heroism of a people who, in an unequal and ruthless struggle, sacrificed everything — even their own lives — for an idea from which nothing could sway them. Every free person shares in the suffering inflicted upon the Hungarian people.”
